Submission of Greek reforms list is “just a first step” - Euro group Chief Dijsselbloem

FXStreet (Mumbai) - Euro group Chief Jeroen Dijsselbloem said when testifying to the European Parliament’s Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee today said that Greece's exit from the euro zone is not on the table and the country could get some form of debt relief in future.

He confirmed that an official letter from the Greek government, with concrete reforms it intends to implement, had arrived to his inbox at 23:15 last night.

Dijsselbloem stated, "But it is not going to be easy. This is just a first step. This list is not a new MOU (memorandum of understanding) or a new agreement. This list is just an indication of the kind of reforms that they would like to push, like to replace and also the ones that they would like to continue. And it is going to take time to really get into the details and to design a new contract or agreement which will carry us on for four months,"

The submission of a list of reforms was a precondition for Greece to get euro zone members' approval concerning a four-month bailout extension, on which the two parties agreed on Friday.
