Key events ahead: Nonfarm Payrolls - Westpac

Analysts at Westpac noted the forthcoming events to finish up the week.

Key Quotes:

"There are only minor Asian data releases ahead of the US May employment report. Consensus is 160k, the same as the soft April reading, with the Verizon strike likely to trim payrolls by 35k in May. The 1standard deviation range in the Bloomberg survey of 90 forecasts is 138k to 186k. Any weakness that is not explained by the Verizon strike should further reduce pricing for a June Fed hike. The unemployment rate (separately calculated is expected to tick down from 5.0% to 4.9%, though economists expected the same improvement last month.

The 8th US-China Strategic and Economic Dialogue takes place in Beijing Sun to Tue. There should be plenty of headlines on CNY and US monetary policy as well as trade and the South China Sea."
